Down

Posted by: TBurnett    in Building Tesha

Been a little down this week. I have to pay more taxes this year than I had anticipated and I’m also out of money. The though of taking a loan, even a small one bothers me, so I will ask YachtSmiths to go month to month with me and keep the boat another year. I’ve been trying to come to grips with that this month, since I had hoped to have the boat put in the water in July.

Borrowed the drill press at work this week and drilled all the holes through blocks I am making. Hopefully the stainless rod will show up next week so I can pin them together and start shaping. Got another couple of coats of varnish on the bowsprit steps as well. Thanks Amy.

Small Blocks

Posted by: TBurnett    in Building Tesha

Decided I need to make ~10 small blocks for 3/8″ line and less, but I ended up with enough wood
for probably 30. No, I’m only going to make 10. Went to Elliot’s to plane and cut the wood which
didn’t take very long. Ordered the sheeves and now I need to find some brass axels and washers.
Amy started the first coat of varnish on the bowsprit steps and the new hand rails.

Finished 2nd Skylight

Posted by: TBurnett    in Building Tesha

We didn’t have much left to do, but the second hatch was completed this week. I’m running out of things to do here in Austin for the boat, and will have to bring back some more work after my trip to Halifax in April. YachtSmiths has been cleaning up the boat for my visits and doing some touchup welding.

Finished a Skylight Hatch

Posted by: TBurnett    in Building Tesha

Yes, finished a skylight hatch. Would like to have finished the second one, but a broken
countersink bit slowed us down. Had to widen the screwholes in the hatch lifts with the
dremel. That took a while, but in all, things went smoothly, especially with Amy helping out.
Even with all the mistakes, the hatches have come out nicely.

YachtSmiths put some time in on my boat this last week. They went through most of the minor
welding tasks on my list such as cutting out the hawsers and will now wait on the rest of the
tasks for me to come up in April.
