Spent a day at the beginning of the week in Chicago and just barely had enough time to take a 1.5 hour tour of the Chicago waterfront in the Schooner Windy. Got to talk with the Captain and crew a little bit. Thanks for the ride guys.
Amy and I, and our friend Cerrise did some sewing this week as well. Amy sewed up her dorade vent test and it looks real nice. She also started a pattern for the aft cabin rails. Cerrise and I started the skylight hatch cover. We sewed it in place with speed stitchers, a good trick.
Jay and I got another coat of paint on the dingy and Jay’s company, Pickle Jar Productions delievered the build crew hats. They look great Jay, thanks. Ross, the logo is awsome.
And lastly, got a couple of more coats of varnish on the coffee mug and pot holders.

Got the rest of the sewing supplies in this week. So, Amy and I spent some time making patterns for canvas dorade vent covers. She sewed a test cover up this week which I think will do just fine.
I gave up trying to find a matching #6 countersink and #6 plugcounter. I have two of each already, and the plugs are too small for the cutter. What the hell. I countersunk with a 1/4″ bit and got the coffeemug holder assembled.
Rob got another coat of paint on the dingy and Jay should have my hats next week. Thanks.

Been a rough week at work so I was not able to put much time into the boat. Finished modeling all the woodwork for the deck that I made this last year. I’ve also been modeling the forepeak area so I can start on that once I verify my measurements in July/August.
Amy started varnishing the pot holders and Bryan at Yachtsmiths has verified the Edson steering gear that I selected. It is more expensive than I had thought, so I’ll have to send more money for it next month.
Got the hatch cover material this week, but forgot to order thread, so I placed that order today.

Been a stressful week at work and after 8 straight 12 hours days, I’ve only been able to finish the varnishing of the companionway stairs. Thanks Amy.
Got tickets to Halifax (July 12-19) for the Tall Ship Challenge and will hopefully get to tour lots of old boats and finish off the ballast in mine.

Put the 6th coat of varnish on the companionway stairs. One more to go. The stairs look great, even with the occasional drip. Damn those drips…..
On Thursday, I met up my friend Cerrise and we made a template for some skylight hatch covers. Time to learn to sew. Thanks Cerrise, I can’t wait to get stitching.
Worked on the coffeemug rack for the galley as well. Cut out the mug holes with router and did a little bit of sanding. I don’t have right combination of countersink and plug cutter yet so I’ve been a little slow with this project.
And lastly, Rob and I started repainting the dingy. Yeah!! Thanks Rob. Oh yes, and Jay is ordering my hats! Thanks Jay.
