Did not receive the Sikaflex before the weekend so I ended up working on the compass binnicle rack. After a grueling month at work, I throughly enjoyed a relaxing day in the shed. It was also so nice to have my power tools back as well. Had a drill in each hand again. The binnicle is turning out a little boxier than I had hoped, but it is not finished or varnished, so I have hopes that it will look better complete. Otherwise, I am just going to have to redo it. What I need is a coffee table book on compass binnicles to help my creative side along.

The 60+ hours work weeks are over for now, so I can get on with my boat build. And my parents are in town visiting so I can’t hardly pass up the opportunity to have their help.
Glued the crossbeam into the frame this week and bought a spokeshave to take down the sides a little. Been a few years since I used one. But it did the trick. Amy and I got the wood for the hatch top on Friday afternoon and on Sunday we went out to Hop/Liz’s with my parents to cut it down. Everyone helped match up the wood so I think the top will look real nice.
Had to order some more Silaflex from Jamestown, should be here in the next week.
As I predicted last week, didn’t get much done on Tesha this week. Too much work. I did get a few hours on Saturday to sand the wheel house frame and then was able to start cutting the cross member joint with a chisel. Forgot to bring my camera so I don’t have any pictures. But I did have picture of the radio rack Amy and I made for our small boat. I have got a stack of odd sized mahogony pieces that we decided we’d rumage through for the ocasional odd piece we need for ‘Baraka’.

Worked most of the weekend so I was not able to work on Tesha much, and this coming week doesn’t look much better. But I did get a few hours to cut the joints for the frame cross member. I don’t have a wood clamp, so I clamped the piece to my table legs and squated down to saw. Worked out well and I am happy with the joints.
My only remaining PC battery went belly up this weekend. Of my 7 batteries, it lasted about 6 months longer than the other. It may be the last one I had bought. Turns out that Batteries Plus will rebuild them for ~$50 a pop, so that would be half the price of new ones. I took five of them in and should get them back on Friday.
