Head Modeling

Posted by: TBurnett    in Building Tesha

Don’t have much to do on the boat at the moment except for modeling. So I have been modeling the head this week. Other than that, I have have a ton of mahogony pieces left over from various things I’ve built, so I made a monitor stand for work and put a few more coats of varnish on the binnocular rack.

Been Sleeping Alot

Posted by: TBurnett    in Building Tesha

The work deadline has come and gone. Unfortunately I don’t have much boat work to show for it, but I have been taking naps everyday to try to recover mentally from the last 30+ days.

Amy and I did pack the truck with all the wood work. We did not know whether we needed a trailer or not, so we packed the truck, and to our surprise got everything in. I would not have bet money on it, but with gas prices, I didn’t want to haul an unnecessary trail 2600 miles to Halifax and then back. Took 2.5 hours of fitting every little piece, and there may even be room for a tent.

Did work on the galley table and arrangement sketch. This may work, even with the water tank under the seat. Hard to know with out actually being there making measurement and roughing in. This will have to do for now, and at least provides for the exchange of ideas with the boys in Halifax.

Boom Sketch

Posted by: TBurnett    in Building Tesha

Didn’t have any time to really work on the boat this week. Was able to work on a few sketches of the spars and get a few coats of varnish on the binncular box. Guess this is good since I really don’t have any more room in the truck to bring up more wood work.

Too tired to go to work

Posted by: TBurnett    in Building Tesha

After a few weeks of straight work, I just couldn’t go in today and instead I took care of a few minor tasks. But first…..

Been working models of the spars. Even brought out the sails to measure, but the drawings and models seemed accurate enough so I don’t think it was necessary. Plus, the tabs will get tack welded until the masts go up just to make sure the placement is right.

Amy and I also tried to get some sewing done. We cut the patterns out for covers for the engine room vents, but Amy’s sewing machine gave us grief, so that project will have to wait.

Been varnishing the binocular rack for the binnicle and it is turing out to be a very beautiful piece of wood.

So back to Sunday, didn’t go to work, so I stayed in the shop and wrapped up a few task. Stropped a block, put some handles on the engine room hatch, and mounted the compass on the binnicle top.

More Wetlocker Modeling

Posted by: TBurnett    in Building Tesha

Wasn’t able to put many hours on the boat this week, which always seems to bother me. Did clean up the binnicle rack and it is now ready to be varnished. I also reworked the wetlocker model. Lifted the lines from the plans and scaled and reshaped the locker to fit between the frames. I put in a set of double doors with a slight curve at the top for some shape. Like it better than last weeks model.
