Brian and I now have a set ot tang and tab designs that we like and the cutfiles for the pieces are being priced. Ryan went on and tackled the aluminum rails this last week. We’ll put the mahogony ones I made inside the boat.

I’m now on my fourth set of tangs/tab designs. Brian and I keep going back and forth on the merits of the tangs. I keep pounding away in SketchUp for a set, Brian reviews them and then I end up making a bunch of changes. I don’t mind really, just eager to order the masts and cutfiles.
Did cut out and fit the bottom planks for dingy this weekend it what little spare time I had. I’m ready to glue, but didn’t want to rush into it. Plus, Amy was away this weekend, and I believe she is better with the fillets than I.

Example Tang
Been working the mast tangs and tabs all week, checking, verifying, calculating all the positions and sizes. Main and fore masts are done. Main boom is re-done. Brian will have to verify. I had done alot of this stuff a year ago, but have found too many mistakes, so I’ve pretty much started over. I’ll get to the fore and jib boom and the gafts this coming week. Found a sketchup to dxf convertor I hope to use to make some cutfiles.
Had trouble spiling my 2nd test plank. 1st one came out dead on, but the second is all wonky. Going to try again. I’m guessing the spiling batten didn’t lay true on the frames.
Bought some mahogony plywood for the lower planks of the dingy. I expected to cut them out and get them on, but the weather turned crappy (50 degrees and ton-o-rain) and the epoxy did not set up in my scarfs all weekend. Hell, I still think they are curing. So much for the slow cure in winter.

Dimensioned
Been away on business the past week so I was only able to work on tang/tab designs. I have made one full pass at designing the masts, and am tweaking mode. I will probably have to model all the rigging before I finish. Lucky I like to do such stuff. Started working on a cut file for the parts, although I may just cut them out by hand. At least I’ll know how much plate I’ll need.
It was my birthday this past weekend. Amy bought me a large lifering with SV Tesha written around the top. It looks awesome!! Thanks babe.
